Horndean FC make club history by achieving 4th place in Sydenhams Wessex Premier Division in 2017-2018 Season

03 May 2018

Horndean Football club would like to publicly extend our sincere gratitude to all of the volunteer’s, Players, Sponsors and staff at Horndean Football club.

Front of house Michael Birmingham, Dutchy Holland, Jason Manna, Ray Ogilvie, Tony Clark, Clare Alexander without whom we could never have achieved our highest position in the Sydenham’s Wessex Premier League.
2013 - 14  17th Position
• 2014 – 15  11th Position
• 2015 -  16  5th Position
• 2016 – 17  6th Position
2017 – 18  4th Position

We have made significant inroads both off and on the field, none of which would be possible without the support of Mr Lea Jackson, (L.Jackson Groundworks), Steve at The White Hart Denmead, Business Bar, Holland Accountancy, Surefix, Lee White Flooring, Horndean MOT Centre, SP Paving, Concise removals, PosivID, Timber Windows of Horndean, G & S Fabrications, Senator Press and so, so many more.

In addition, our club secretary Mandy Winters who has been magnificent in her dealings with the postponements, registrations and helping with organising events, our Treasurer Sarah with whom we would be lost without, Paul Bambury and John Morgan who are always willing to help whatever the task, John Bryson, Peter the electrician, Roger our resident carpenter, Mike Oliver all of whom just get things done.

We have so much support from all areas, Paul Ferguson at the Horndean Post, Kevin Ricketts and so many more.

Lisa Bailey, David Sagar, Each volunteer, Sponsor, Player, Member of the Coaching team Committee help to make Horndean FC the club it is and for that we are incredibly grateful, we are a growing club and this year we are pleased to announce that we will be running a feeder team to run alongside the First team, the Reserves will be Managed by Ray Ogilvie who has already recruited his backroom staff, for those that do not know Ray he has spent the season establishing and familiarising himself with the first team under the guidance of Michael Birmingham.

The task for Ray is straight forward, get players ready for the first team, challenge for places, the measure of success is to see how many will play in the first team.
In addition, the reserves will be in place to support first team players getting back to fitness, and keeping them fit.

We have had our challenges this year, not only with the weather, 7 day approaches for are Managers, Coaches & players, but pleased to say that we have and continue to remain a solid unit.

It is important that we also recognise the performance of those who finished above us, Blackfield & Langley, what a formidable outfit, they tore us apart when we played them away, we learnt from that heavy defeat and gave them a game at Five Heads. They deserve every success the same as do Andover, again formidable team with outstanding players.

Sholing – a team that possess some of the most loyal and longest serving players, who are a strong front foot team who never disappoint.

Next seasons work is already underway, Players all ready to re-sign, pitch preparation to commence shortly and changes to the ground will be taking place.

Kindest regards
